About Vitrase

Hyaluronic acid is a component of connective tissue and is found naturally throughout the human body. Medicine has discovered many clinical uses for this integral part of the human anatomy. One of the increasingly common applications is in the growing field of cosmetic medicine. Hyaluronic acid is used in cosmetic filler injections to not only plump up skin that may have slackened with age, but to add volume in specific areas such as the lips or cheeks. This particular use of hyaluronic acid has been very well received, which has opened up a whole new dimension in cosmetic surgery and in-office procedures. The use of dermal injectables has called for the development of products that can then reverse the results of injections that are performed incorrectly or are otherwise unsatisfactory to the patient.

Vitrase, a proprietary formula of the protein enzyme hyaluronidase, is an antidote to cosmetic fillers in that it initiates the structural breakdown of hyaluronic acid. Within seconds of a Vitrase injection, the site of a previously filled facial area begins to shrink and recede. The amount of tissue reduction is determined simply by the amount of Vitrase administered, or the number of sessions scheduled. Sometimes physicians will recommend additional Vitrase injections spaced about a week or so apart to continue to minimize fullness. Having a dependable recourse to address an unacceptable outcome takes the risk out of injectable filler cosmetic procedures.

Results are generally seen from Vitrase treatment within 1-2 days. The excess filler is generally reabsorbed and the skin contours itself to the new volume of remaining filler, leaving behind smooth and appropriately full features. Because Vitrase is typically painless and the treatment is non-surgical, recovery is instantaneous and patients can return to their daily routine without any difficulty. A call to your doctor is all it takes to put Vitrase to work for you. Enjoy your new look and your peace of mind.
