About Eco2 Resurfacing

To treat the visible signs of aging with little pain and a short recovery period, the eCO2 Resurfacing process is considered one of the best treatments available. Dermatologists use the eCO2 to create tiny columns of damaged tissue in the epidermis. Microscopic dots of healthy skin are left unharmed by the lasers heat, and these aid in the regeneration of the cells in the epidermis.

During the treatment, the doctor uses a topical numbing agent to keep the patient comfortable and will sometimes use cool air to counteract the warmth of the laser. Because this procedure is non-ablative, patients do not undergo general anesthesia and no hospitalization is involved. This means patients can return to work or play quite soon.

The eCO2 Resurfacing treatment is preferred by many doctors because it gives them versatility. They are able to dial in the preferred depth of penetration. They can also set the laser for precise work in tiny areas such as the features of the face and in broader coverage mode for the back or arms. Sometimes the eCO2 laser is used on the neck and hands as well. Many doctors have also had excellent results using it on stretch marks and acne scarring.

After the eCO2 Resurfacing treatment, the face may remain pink or rosy for a few days. Most patients heal in a week’s time, and doctors sometimes schedule other treatments after a month or more. The results, which continue to improve for at least six to nine months, are visible immediately. They include fewer noticeable lines and wrinkles, a firmer skin tone, and less discoloration, particularly from sun spots.

To maintain these results, specialists encourage patients to stay out of the sun or cover their skin while outdoors. Sunscreen should also be applied daily to prevent further damage and protect new skin tissues. As the skin heals, patients should use moisturizer to hydrate the developing skin cells and keep the skin pliable during this time.
