What is PureLipo?
PureLipo is an innovative, advanced type of liposuction that allows for effective fat removal and body sculpting in a single in-office visit, without the need for general anesthesia. This procedure involves the use of a specially formulated tumescent fluid and results in permanent removal of fat cells in the areas treated, which can include almost any area of the body. This is a minimally-invasive procedure that enhances the body's natural contours through the use of a small cannula to remove fat cells from in between the skin and muscles, allowing for more precise sculpting than is possible with conventional liposuction methods.

How does PureLipo work?

PureLipo permanently removes fat cells by introducing a large amount of fluid that is made up of a sterile saline solution, a local anesthetic and epinephrine. Each of these ingredients plays an important role in the process, improving results and reducing recovery time and the risk of complications. The local anesthetic is long-lasting, which allows patients to comfortably receive the procedure without general anesthesia and lowers the need for post-operative pain medications. The epinephrine in the fluid causes blood vessels in the treatment area to constrict, which reduces bleeding and bruising during and after the procedure. The saline solution is used both to provide a base for dilution of the local anesthetic and epinephrine, and to make the process of removing excess fat easier by plumping up the cells and encouraging separation from muscles and the dermis.

After this solution has been introduced, the fat is removed through a small cannula that is inserted through a very small incision in the skin.

Can PureLipo treat any area of the body?
PureLipo can be performed on most areas of the body. The most popular treatment areas include the outer and inner thighs, upper arms, waist, neck, back, abdomen, buttocks, breasts and face.

How does PureLipo compare to other liposuction procedures?
PureLipo offers many advantages over conventional liposuction treatments, including:

• Less invasive than conventional liposuction
• Allows for the safer removal of up to four liters of fat in a single session
• Can be performed in an office or medspa setting
• Does not require general anesthesia, thus lowering associated risks
• Less bruising and bleeding than conventional liposuction
• Minimal downtime
• Little to no scarring
• Reduced instances of dimpling or ridges
• No damage to the dermis

Who should consider receiving PureLipo?
Ideal candidates for PureLipo are people who have areas of fat that have not responded well to exercise and diet. PureLipo candidates should also be in overall good health.

How is the procedure performed?

A PureLipo treatment session can generally be completed in approximately two hours, with the entire appointment taking about three hours, in most cases. Patients are given oral medication, as well as a local anesthetic that is included in the fluid that will be introduced into the treatment area. Patients stay awake during the procedure and are able to talk to the doctor and adjust their position to allow the doctor to access different areas of their body. After cleansing the area, the fluid is injected into the treatment area, which causes swelling and increased firmness. The doctor then makes a small incision in the skin, through which he or she will insert a thin tube, called a cannula. The doctor will move the cannula around to remove fat cells with the attached suction mechanism. This form of liposuction allows for more precise sculpting; therefore, the doctor will be able to use the cannula to enhance your body’s natural contours while removing fat.

What can I expect of the recovery process?
Patients will experience some swelling and drainage for a few weeks after receiving PureLipo and will need to wear compression garments to encourage drainage of the saline solution and to reduce swelling. Only minimal bruising should occur and most patients are able to return to regular daily activities within two to three days after treatment.

When will I see results?
PureLipo provides significant improvement in body contours and permanent removal of fat cells. Initial results generally become noticeable within about four weeks (after the swelling has subsided), with full results realized within approximately four months.

Are there any risks associated with PureLipo?

All liposuction procedures come with the risks of bleeding, infection or scarring; however, PureLipo has a good record of high patient satisfaction with little chance of side effects.

Is PureLipo approved for use in the U.S.?
Yes, the ingredients, implements and procedures used to perform PureLipo treatments are approved for use in the United States.

Will insurance cover the PureLipo procedure?
Most medical insurance companies will not cover procedures that are elective in nature, or are not considered medically necessary; therefore, PureLipo will generally not be covered by insurance companies. Patients may want to look into in-house payment plans that are offered by some providers, or patient financing options that are widely available.

What are the costs associated with PureLipo?
As with most cosmetic procedures, costs associated with PureLipo will vary, depending on your individual provider’s fees, geographical location and both the size and number of areas to be treated. PureLipo is generally more affordable than conventional liposuction treatments and most often costs less than $5,000 for a single treatment session.
