Society doesn't really like to talk too much about the sexuality of older adults but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Even well past menopause/andropause, people are out there enjoying their sex lives; there are even testosterone gels and other sexual aids designed specifically for this population. It's important to remember that where there is sex, there is the risk of sexually transmitted diseases.
A study completed by researchers in Britain found that the rate of sexually transmitted disease among people over the age of 45 has doubled in just the last ten years. This is a disturbing trend which warrants the attention of health awareness educators. Sexual health of aging adults has not factored in to much research so it's an area that has been lacking and one that should be given some attention.
Details of that study can be learned here.
