Are you terrified of the idea that getting older means that you're eventually going to lose your mind? If so, you might be interested in a new study which has drawn a link between the level of education that you have and the likelihood that you are going to experience prolonged Alzheimers or dementia in your old age.
The study reveals that people who have higher levels of education are less likely to experience prolonged diseases associated with the aging of the mind. If you have less than a high school education, there's a good chance that you're going to spend a lot more years suffering from diseases like Alzheimers than you would if you had a gone to college.
On the flip side, the study also found that people with a higher level of education were likely to die more quickly after a diagnosis of Alzheimers. They simply don't live a long time once they've contracted this brain disease. So if you're considering taking some classes to reduce the time that you'll spend with Alzheimer's, you'll have to think about the fact that it could shorten your life!
Question of the Day: Why would there be a link between a person's level of education and the extent to which they would experience diseases like dementia?
