It is no secret that post-menopausal women have gone through hormonal changes that can have a significant impact on their libidos. Many people even know that it's not necessarily estrogen that's the problem but actually the changing levels of testosterone in a woman's body that can impact how interested she is in sexual activity. However, a new study suggests that the power of the mind may play an important role in getting your body to behave like you want it to in the bedroom.
The study, done in Australia, looked at the effects of a testosterone spray on the sexual satisfaction of post-menopausal women. There was indeed a significant increase in satisfaction among those women in the group who used the spray. However, there was a similar increase for those women who used a placebo spray instead. This indicates that there's a lot to be said for your own approach to your aging sexuality.
If you enter the bedroom with the mindset that your wacky hormones are going to cause problems with your partner, then you're setting yourself up for failure. Getting to know your changing body and approaching your aging sexuality with excitement rather than dread may have the potential to make things much more satisfying for you than you might think.
Question of the Day: Why do you think that the placebo worked as well as the testosterone spray in this study?
