You probably already know that life expectancy has been increasing over the last half century. This is due to the medical advances that we have made which extend life. With organ transplants, better overall health care and anti-aging medicine, we have been able to start living longer without compromising the quality of our health.
Despite this, there remain disparities between populations in terms of who is actually living longer. This comes as no surprise to many people who already realized that women live longer than men and rich populations live longer than poor ones. However, a new study reveals that the location where you reside in the U.S. may also play a role in how long you'll live.
There are many factors to consider but what was essentially learned from this study was that communities with disadvantaged access to quality health care have not seen increased life expectancy whereas neighboring communities with more advantages are living longer and longer. This points to an important area of concern and shows anti-aging professionals where their efforts are most needed.
