You can't turn left or right in the American media today without running into news about menopause and the issues that come up for women during this part of aging. While the dearth of information that we have here in the United States can be overwhelming and confusing, it is far better to have access to too much information about important aging issues than to not have enough information at your disposal. Women in India are starting to recognize the importance of menopause information and are breaking boundaries in the country by starting to make the formerly taboo topic of menopause a point of conversation.
They aren't just doing this in Indian familes kitchens either; a national forum has been set up in India to start disseminating important information about menopause to the women living throughout the country. The current president of the Indian Menopause Society has been quoted as saying that women are now currently living a significant number of years past menopause and need information about that rite of passage in order to remain healthy into their later years.

Question of the Day: What do you think has held Indian women back from talking about this issue in the past?
