An article published by Medical News Today this week points out an obvious but alarming fact: the health care community is not prepared for the baby boomer generation's aging problems but they're going to age whether we're ready or not. There are many different health problems associated with aging and the medical community doesn't have the staff or other resources to provide adequate care to everyone in this generation as it ages.
The report notes that in the twenty five year span of time between 2005 and 2030, the number of older Americans is poised to double because the baby boomers are aging. Furthermore, it points out that the diversity of this large group of people poses unique challenges to the health care system for which is is not prepared.
We obviously can't stop this generation from aging. So, what's the solution?
There are many answers to that question but one might be that baby boomers must take it upon themselves to make health and wellness a priority. There are many anti-aging measures that this group can take which will reduce the symptoms of aging and the impact that it's going to have on the strained health care system. We certainly need to prepare the system to handle the change but individuals can also do their part.
Question of the Day: What do you think is the utmost priority in health care as the baby boomer generation begins aging into old age?
