Many people who are interested in extending their lives into much later years are taking antioxidant vitamin supplements. This is because it has previously been believed that these supplements are an anti-aging tool which lengthens life span. However, a new study reveals that certain antioxidant vitamins may be ineffective as agents for life extension.
In fact, the study goes so far as to say that healthy people who take certain antioxidant supplements, such as Vitamin A, may actually be effectively shortening their lives. Basically, there's such a thing as "too much of a good thing". If you're already healthy and getting the amount of vitamins and nutrients that you need, then you can disrupt your body by taking additional vitamins.
In order to make anti-aging vitamins work for you, your best bet is to take them under the advice of a doctor or nutritionist. These professionals can assist you in determining what vitamins you're deficient in. They can then point you in the direction of an appropriate supplement or they can provide you with information on how to get those vitamins through diet. In other words, the fact remains that you have to know what's wrong with your body before you can treat it!
