We hear a lot about women's hormones and they way that they change as women get older. However, most of the information that we get falls into the category of 'women's health'. That means that it's either presented by experts in the women's medicine field (who may be of either gender) or it's reported on by an average person who is almost always a woman. As a result, it's unique to see the average man provide his perspective on the hormonal situation facing women as they age.

Just such a perspective can be found in a recent first-person report from a man who attended a women's health conference in order to report on it. The full report is available from the Aspen Times. However, the gist of it is that this guy got a great introduction into what happens with women as they age - something he's the first to acknowledge that most men just don't care about.

Reporting on this issue, he became aware of the pros and cons of things like hormone replacement therapy for women. And he came away with the understanding that women's bodies are complicated and that they actually go through a lot as they age. Of course, men also deal with hormonal changes as they get older (called andropause). However, the average woman tends to be aware of and sympathetic to these changes whereas the average man may not be the same way in response to a woman's changing hormones.
