There was an article online recently which discussed the rise of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy in a specific community. Although it's interesting to look at the article's description of the differences between those so-called natural HRT and traditional HRT, there's something else mentioned in the article that's even more interesting. Let's take a look:
"Women who use the treatment, she said, have generally tried everything else and are at their wit's end. 'I think women are realizing that their depression is not being fixed by an antidepressant, and their sleep isn't going to be fixed by sleeping pills. They're tired of being told it will get better, or that it's in their head,' (a doctor) said.
This is a really interesting thing to take a look at it because it addresses one of the major concerns of women who are aging. It's not as though you wake up one day with a myriad of symptoms and immediately think, "oh, my hormones are out of whack because I'm getting older". Instead, you deal with changing emotions and various health concerns, the source of which may take some time to pinpoint.
Whether or not you are interested in HRT, you must remember that things are going to change with your body as a direct result of getting older. It's important to stay in tune with your body and to pay attention to these changes. Don't simply dismiss them as caused by something like depression or insomnia; ask yourself what the real root cause of your problems might be.
Question of the Day: Do you think you'd have a propensity to misdiagnose yourself with an ailment like insomnia when the real problem as hormonal imbalance due to aging?
