Green tea has been said to have many health benefits including prevention of cancer because of the presence of the antioxidant EGCG among its ingredients. However, it wasn't known until now that green tea may have properties which prevent the development of Parkinson's. Parkinson's is a disease which is of great concern to the aging and which currently has no cure. Brain scans have revealed some hope for an experimental drug but what can you do in the meantime?
According to the authors of a study on the issue, you can drink green tea.
The authors found that drinking green tea could result in a positive effect on the cell activity related to Parkinson's disease. The study was done on mice and so requires additional research to be tested and proved effective on humans. However, it appears to be a good step in the right direction for doctors working to prevent Parkinson's. The authors of the study hope that this can lead to the creation of a low-side-effect drug devised from the properties of green tea to offer an eventual cure for the disease.
Additional information about the way that green tea might be able to prevent Parkinson's can be learned here. Does this mean that you should immediately start drinking green tea? It won't necessarily cure all your ills, but it certainly can't hurt you. And it's believed to have other anti-aging benefits such as improvement of the skin.
